X-wing Schematics

I would like to describe how I went about designing my x-wing.

First I found an existing sketchup model from Sketchup's warehouse (it was designed by Abraham Katase). I scaled down to 1/12th scale.  Then I began the time intensive process of building panel thickness onto it.  I then added in an underlying frame and started adding notches that would fit together when the pieces were cut out.

I found a sketchup plugin that would unfold the panels onto a flat surface.  I imported those to autoCAD.  In autoCAD I added panel details and texture.  From there it was a matter of fitting them onto my scraps of plywood and hitting print on the laser.

X-wing WIP and random Stormtrooper pic

So I started on a model x-wing for my Black Series toys.  So far I have the framework, and couple of the front panels, and the wings.  I have laser cut them out of 1/8" craft plywood.  This thing is turning out to be gigantic!  It will be about 3' long when finished.  I'll post updates as I progress.

And just for fun is my Sandtrooper riding a giraffe.

Black Widow

This is a custom Marvel Legends Black Widow.  She is made from the Hope Summers figure.  I filed off her shin guards and added sculpted boots, belt, wrist blasters, and collar.  I added a black widow emblem to her back as well.

These photos show the process of filing and sculpting before I painted.

Bane

This is a custom movie Bane.  Simple headswap with the movie masters Bane onto the body of the NECA Duke Nukem figure.  Then I just painted the shirt green.  Makes for a much more imposing figure to battle Batman.

Snake-Eyes

This is a six inch Snake-eyes.  He is my first custom action figure.  He is made from a marvel legends deadpool and longshot with a sculpted visor.  Scoll down for more photos including some process photos.

Iron Man Hall of Armor

I have completed a Hall of Armor for my Marvel Legends Iron Men.  I made it out of 1/8" plywood, various sizes of basswood, plex, and some silver spray paint.  I cut the pieces out and added texture with a laser cutter.  It is made to fit an IKEA expedit bookcase and to have LED lights mounted behind it.  If you have any questions regarding its design or construction let me know.
