(Clock wise from top) Kylo Ren, First Order Trooper, BB-8, Rey

"Rey, I am your Father..."     "You seem a little young 'Dad'..."

Solo Family?

These aren't the Droids you are looking for.

These two look good together.

Orange is the new Black.
The Black Capes are coming!

Bandai R2-D2 Model Kit (Black Series Comparison)

So I recently received my Bandai Star Wars Droids Model Kits (I ordered both the R2D2 and C3P0).  This review is going to focus on the R2 kit and give a photo comparison to the Hasbro Black Series toy.

If you have never put together a model kit before - you will need a pair of small wire clippers, an exacto knife, some spray paint (optional), and alot of patience.  The two astromech droids took me approximately 2.5 hours to put together (not including painting).

The picture instructions are easy to follow even though there are notes in Japanese.  The stickers and the feet hoses were the only parts that really tested my patience.

I strongly recommend painting the grey parts silver.  This is easy to do with a model kit as you just spray paint the spru.

I also gave my R5 a custom paint job because I didn't like the blue and red together.  I just painted all the colored parts a rusty red.

My finished droids.

R2 standing with the Bandai C3P0.  This picture came out a little bright.  They look even nicer in person.

The following pictures show the Bandai next to Hasbro.  Overall the Bandai looks much nicer but maybe is just a bit too tall.  It is also just a little more fragile.  I like having both but would choose the Bandai if forced.

Black Series Tie Pilot, Jedi Luke, and Darth Vader

I finally found a tie fighter pilot to go with my Tie Interceptor.  Thankfully he was shorter than the storm trooper and fit nicely in his fighter.  I also purchased Vader and Luke and thought I would include some pictures of them.

Tie Interceptor Finished

I finally finished up my Black Series scale Tie Fighter Interceptor.  While I was originally planning for a fighter I made the last minute decision to go ahead with the interceptor - basically because I like the design of the interceptor so much better and I don't know if I will get around to making multiple of these things.  Once I get my x-wing dug back out of moving boxes - I'll show a side by side comparison.

The wings are made out of plywood and chipboard that was laser cut into the various pieces.  Some progress pics:
I built some supports (in black) to get the angle right for the wings as the glue dried.

The blue and green pieces were 3d printed with a makerbot.

Tie Fighter - Star Wars Black Series (post 1)

I have been modeling and 3D printing a tie fighter to go along with my Star Wars Black Series figures.  I have the main body done - I just need to get on with the wings.

Amazon exclusive Slave 1 and Black Series Boba Fett

This is a comparison of the Star Wars Black Series 6" Boba Fett with the Amazon exclusive Slave 1.  The Slave 1 is made for the 3 3/4" scale figures - so it is a little undersized for the 6" Boba.  However it still makes a great display backdrop for him and is a fun vehicle in its own right.
